"I believe in LOVE, told in STORY, and lived in COMMUNITY"

Growing up in Christianity I was taught that "God is Love." Growing up at school I was taught the transitive property of equality; if a=b and b=c then a=c. As an adult in a crisis of faith I realized these two concepts worked best combined, "Love is God." This realization changed the entire lens I looked at the world through. If Love is God, than "sin" is any act not rooted in and stemming from Love.

Growing up in Christianty we read the gospels a lot. Christianity as a whole, but the gospels most especially because the cradle of my spiritual understanding. In those stories about Jesus he seems to divide the world into three groups of people, "Each Other, Neighbors, and Enemies." Jesus has very clear teaching on how we should treat each of those groups. For each other, we should love them. For neighbors, we should love them. For enemies, we should love them. As an adult in that aforementioned crisis of faith I finally realized what Jesus saying in all those commands. Love is God, and if we are following God, the only way to follow him is by loving each other, our neighbors, and our enemies.

I recognize that others reading this may have been told other stories, with other central characters, and other sharing this same message. In the end though, all the great stories though share one truth at their core and that truth is that Love is God. They just say that in other tongues.

Love Story Community is a congregation of people, not bound by geography or a unified set of stories. Instead we are bound by the recognition that Love is God, and we can love that out through our stories and through our community. We do not believe in orthodoxy, like so many other religous groups. Instead, we seek to live an orthopraxy rooted in love manifested in justice. I hope you will be a person willing to join that congregation. The world needs more of that kind of love, so the world needs more YOU loving that way.
